This nationwide photography competition is held in loving memory of Emma Woods, a talented photography student at the University of East London who sadly passed away aged 20. 

Since Emma’s passing, her family and friends have raised funds for the Turner Syndrome Support Society UK (TSSS UK) to fund awareness initiatives that honour Emma’s legacy and support those affected by Turner Syndrome.

Turner Syndrome (TS) is a relatively common genetic condition affecting approximately 1 in 2,000 live female births. It primarily impacts growth and development, along with other associated health considerations. This competition’s theme, “Growth,” invites photographers across the UK to explore and capture their personal interpretations of growth—whether natural, emotional, or metaphorical.

The contest is open to all UK residents and runs for three months from 21 June (Turner Syndrome Awareness Day) to 21 September. Participants may submit up to three entries via our dedicated Flickr group: https://www.flickr.com/groups/14920580@N23/

Emily Jane Thornhill, professional photographer, fellow course student, and close friend of Emma
Dylan Lombard, a 20-year-old photographer and social media influencer known for spreading messages of acceptance and love while living with a rare genetic condition
